The champagne race at the Amohela, it's most certainly not for sissies as we trade out distance for elevation gained in the foothills of the might Maluti Mountains that tower over us. The altitude takes attitude. Have you got what it takes to conquer Big Mountain Country?

Sesotho for Small Mountain

Don't get us wrong, there is no such thing as a small mountain around the picturesque village of Clarens. The Thaba e Nyenyane route just trades out a little distance and several major climbs to cater for those who are keen for a lighter day out on the legs with all the views.

Keen to try out racing in Big Mountain Country but afraid that you don't have the legs for 2 days of it? Then this is for you.

Riders can choose from either one of the stage race Day Two options to ride in when entering.

Amohela – Sesotho, a word of welcoming – as to one who’s arrival gives pleasure.

Set in and around the picturesque village of Clarens, the Amohela invites you to trail blaze it’s network of trails which lie in the foothills of the mighty Maluti’s.

The routes of made up of a network of private farms, conservancies and game farms which border or link up to Clarens. This means the trails are purpose built and exclusive to the Amohela MTB Challenge. 

Voted within the top 10 small towns to visit in SA for over 10 years, Clarens lends itself to the Amohela as the perfect host. From the moment you enter the short pass leading you into the village, you will feel your shoulders even out as you leave the world behind you for a world of adventure.

There is no official race at the Amohela, the entire village opens it’s arms to us. Riders can choose where to sleep, what they would like to eat or drink and what’s best? The Start / Finish is only a stones throw away from all accommodation in Clarens.
