Following in the tracks of those who came before, this route combines rewarding riding, magnificent scenery, and the spirit of adventure that defines the Amohela MTB Challenge.

For riders who can’t join the full two-day experience, the Classic Routes deliver all the beauty, excitement, and spirit of the Amohela MTB Challenge in a single unforgettable day. Choose between the legendary Frontier Route or the scenic Wagon Route and discover why the Eastern Free State is one of South Africa’s most remarkable mountain biking destinations.

The Explorer Route is where the next generation of adventurers takes to the trails. Set within the beautiful surrounds of the Clarens Golf Course, this exciting 15km ride is designed for young riders, families, and anyone eager to share in the spirit of the Amohela MTB Challenge.

Parents taking part in the Frontier and Wagon Routes are encouraged to ride alongside their young explorers, making this a memorable family experience before the weekend’s main events begin.

The Subaru Amohela MTB Challenge is your ticket to two unforgettable days of riding through some of South Africa’s most spectacular landscapes.

Flowing singletrack, exclusive private trails, ancient valleys, towering sandstone cliffs, and breathtaking views await around every corner. From historic Bushman paintings to wide-open Free State vistas, this is mountain biking at its most rewarding.

When the riding is done, the adventure continues in the vibrant mountain town of Clarens, where great food, warm hospitality, and trail-side stories create an experience you’ll remember long after the finish line.
