The champagne race at the Subaru Amohela, designed for those a little more adventurous of heart. The event takes you out of Clarens and right along the Lesotho border line.

Riders are spoilt to panoramic views from a max altitude of 2150m above sea level. The elevation comes with other rewards in the form of fast flowing descents and rolling district roads.

There is no denying that this altitude takes attitude. Have you got what it takes to conquer Big Mountain Country?

Prefer the lighter side of life? Then this is the race for you... A great introduction to stage racing. The route spans across private reserves, conservancies and private farms.

Riders entering the Thaba e Kholo will also reach a high point of 2150m above sea level, but not have to face as many technical features, climbs and distance as the bigger brother event.

Step up to the challenge and come enjoy two thrilling day's in the village of Clarens with friends and family.

Saturday 18 May 2024

Fancy a weekend in Clarens with friends and family? For the 1st time ever, the one day event has been moved to a Saturday. This means that you can come ride the race, take in the adventure and kick back and relax with friends or family for the rest of the weekend.

Riders entering the one day event can choose from either the Thaba e Kholo or Thaba e Nyenyane. If you choose to enter this race, you will only be able to ride day one of the full event.

This route takes you towards Lesotho and Fouriesburg.

Join us for two days in one of South Africa’s most picturesque towns for a weekend of adventure with friends and family.

Event dates: 

18 & 19 May 2024 for the 2 day riders, 18 May for the 1 day riders

Clarens Golf & Trout Estate from 11:00 – 20:30 on the 17th of May 2024

*Seeded and electronic chip timed event.

eBike friendly: 

The event is ebike friendly, however at this point ebikes do not qualify for any prizes in the event

Event timing: 

Live event timing will be used, we will provide you with RFID number boards

Accommodation options:

The event does not provide or facilitate accommodation for riders. We do however have an entire village loaded with amazing accommodation options for you to choose from. Wake up in a comfortable bed with a roof over your head. Then cruise on through to one of the village booking agents to book your event accommodation soon.
